psoriatic arthritis
A subtype of juvenile idiopathic arthritis associated with psoriasis or family history of psoriasis.
Full Definition
Psoriatic arthritis in children is characterized by arthritis plus psoriasis, or arthritis with at least two of the following: dactylitis, nail pitting or onycholysis, or psoriasis in a first-degree relative. This subtype often presents with asymmetric joint involvement and may affect both large and small joints. The arthritis may precede skin manifestations by years, making diagnosis challenging.
