The condition involves the foot being turned inward and downward at the ankle, with the heel pointing upward and the forefoot curved inward. Treatment typically involves serial casting (Ponseti method) beginning in the neonatal period, often followed by a minor surgical procedure to release the Achilles tendon. Without treatment, the deformity can lead to significant disability and pain in walking.
