Baker grading system

Four-point classification scale used to assess the severity of capsular contracture around breast implants.

The Baker grading system is the standard method for classifying capsular contracture severity in breast implant patients. Grade I represents a soft breast with normal appearance; Grade II shows slight firmness but normal appearance; Grade III exhibits moderate firmness with visible distortion; and Grade IV involves severe contracture with pain, marked distortion, and hardness. This classification system is essential for documenting complications and determining treatment approaches.
