Energy-return prosthetic feet, also called dynamic-response feet or carbon-fibre spring feet, use flexible keel structures—most commonly carbon-fibre composites—to store elastic strain energy during the stance phase and return it as propulsive force at terminal stance. This contrasts with conventional solid-ankle cushioned-heel (SACH) feet, which absorb rather than return energy.
