Sertoli cell tumor
A rare sex cord-stromal tumor of the testis that may produce hormones and present with feminization.
Full Definition
Sertoli cell tumor is an uncommon testicular neoplasm arising from the sex cord-stromal cells that normally support spermatogenesis. These tumors may secrete estrogen, leading to gynecomastia and other feminizing symptoms. Most are benign when occurring in children but may have malignant potential in adults. Diagnosis is confirmed by histopathology and immunohistochemistry. Treatment typically involves radical orchiectomy with consideration of retroperitoneal lymph node dissection in selected cases.
