Hypovolemic shock resulting from massive fluid loss and increased vascular permeability in major burns.

Full Definition

A life-threatening condition occurring in the first 24-48 hours after major burn injury, characterized by hypovolemic shock due to massive fluid and protein loss through damaged capillaries. Burn shock results from increased vascular permeability, fluid shifts into interstitial spaces, and direct fluid loss through the burn wound. Without prompt and adequate fluid resuscitation, burn shock can lead to organ failure and death.
