Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric malignancy, accounting for approximately 25% of all childhood cancers. It results from malignant transformation and clonal expansion of lymphoid progenitor cells in the bone marrow. ALL is classified into B-cell and T-cell subtypes based on immunophenotype, with B-cell ALL being more common in children. The disease is further stratified by cytogenetic abnormalities, age at diagnosis, and initial white blood cell count. Modern treatment protocols achieve cure rates exceeding 90% in pediatric patients through risk-adapted therapy that includes induction, consolidation, and maintenance phases. Treatment duration typically extends 2-3 years.
