Full Definition
The International Neuroblastoma Staging System (INSS) is a staging classification for neuroblastoma that was developed to provide uniform criteria for treatment planning and research. The system uses stages 1, 2A, 2B, 3, 4, and 4S, with staging based primarily on the extent of surgical resection and presence of metastatic disease. The INSS has largely been superseded by the International Neuroblastoma Risk Group (INRG) staging system, which uses imaging rather than surgical findings.
