Carboplatin is a second-generation platinum analog chemotherapy drug commonly used in the treatment of testicular germ cell tumors, particularly in patients who cannot tolerate cisplatin. It works by forming DNA cross-links that inhibit cell division. While generally better tolerated than cisplatin, carboplatin is associated with significant myelosuppression and is considered less effective for cure in most testicular cancer scenarios.
